By Tony Holeman, Southern contributor
After another week of competitive show choir down south (and the cancellation of this weekend’s only southern competition at Enterprise), the final weekly Southern Show Choir Rankings are here. In the spirit of recognizing all the South's best choirs, 4A/3A and X-Large/Large, Single Gender, 2A/Middle Mixed, and 1A/Small Mixed divisions are all ranked. Things Worth Noting in the Rankings
Northern Tussle Leads To Swap
Following the results from last weekend’s results from the Mt. Zion Midwest Invitational, where Grenada won a Grand Championship and Brandon finished third, there is a consequent swapping of placements between the two groups. As a result, Grenada jumps to the fourth overall spot in the 4A/3A and X-Large/Large division, whereas Brandon falls down to the sixth overall spot. Petal sits soundly in between the two at the fifth overall spot after having a fairly close bout with Clinton and Tupelo at the Biloxi Gulf Coast Classic.
West Marion Reclaims Small Division
After Pass Christian jumped West Marion for the first overall spot in their 1A/Small Division rankings last time, West Marion made it a point to avenge their loss. That they did, beating Pass Christian for the fourth time this season at the Biloxi Gulf Coast Classic. This victory secured their spot at first overall in the division, with Pass Christian now directly behind them at second overall.
Season End In Sight
With the cancellation of the Enterprise Southland Show Choir Classic due to unfortunate weather circumstances, that leaves just two events left on the southern show choir schedule that feature southern vs. southern matchups. Those are Show Choir Nationals on March 22nd and Brandon ELITE on March 29th. Due to the limited nature of the matchups, the next and final batch of rankings will be collected and posted sometime after Brandon ELITE in the early days of April. Keep an eye out for the final southern show choir rankings of the 2025 competitive season!
Future Matchups
As previously mentioned, the southern show choir season is starting to wind down, leaving just two competitions remaining for southern groups to compete against one another. At Show Choir Nationals, we will see Petal (mixed and womens), Auburn (mixed, mens, and womens), and Madison Central (mixed and intermediate) all travel to compete against one another and other strong out-of-region programs such as Los Alamitos, Carmel, Zionsville, and Daniel Hand. At Brandon ELITE, it will be a chance to see how some of the southern programs fare against the welcomed traveling competition in groups such as Mt. Zion, Burleson, and Burleson Centennial.
