News and Notes

Hoover, Oxford Step Up:

Due to Hoover’s and Oxford’s placements this last weekend (a Grand Championship and divisional sweep, respectively), both Paradigm and Sound move up a spot in their respective divisions. They knock Northeast Jones and Pisgah down a spot each. These two will have their own chance to shine this weekend as they face South Jones and West Marion, respectively.

Rome Out, Wayne County In:

Solely focusing on the 1A/Small division, Wayne County has popped up to number four in the rankings after a non-competitive division win this past weekend, knocking Rome out of the top five. That is, however, without mentioning their previous win over Oxford at the South Jones Invitational, something that almost certainly helped support this placement. Wayne County has no time to celebrate though, as they face a 1A gauntlet this weekend at West Jones.

Nothing New At the Top:

This weekend did not feature any change in the Top 10 4A/3A and X-Large/Large groups. This marks the first time during these rankings that the Top 10, after a weekend of such competitions, remains the exact same as the weekend prior.

Future Matchups:

Needless to say, this upcoming weekend features more than enough opportunities for the rankings to jumble up. Matchups like the previously mentioned West Marion vs Pisgah vs Wayne County and Northeast Jones vs South Jones will provide plenty of entertainment. After that, there are also some of the larger-scale matchups, such as Oak Mountain vs Petal vs Auburn vs Northwest Rankin. That's without mentioning Single Gender yet. Don't be surprised if next weekend’s polls feature more chaos than this weekend’s.

These rankings will be updated every week following a total collection of and reflection on the results. Come back after this weekend to see a fresh batch of poll placements.
