Rankings are based on HomeRoom Show Choir’s 2024 Final National Rankings. Interested in digging deeper? View the 2024 Final National Rankings or see how the rankings were compiled.

Previews of 75 more choirs will release on December 26.

2024 #51 Ranked Choir: Andover “Nothin’ But Treble” (1st in Massachusetts)

2025 Director: Lauren Peithmann (2nd season)

Choreographers: Beth Kennedy (14th season) and Brooke Smolder (4th season)

Competition Schedule: Feb. 1 - Shepherd Hill; Feb. 8 - Tantasqua; Mar. 8 - Leominster; Mar. 15 - Bishop Hendricken; Mar. 22 - Hosting

Andover’s varsity treble show choir, “Nothin’ But Treble” is coming back in full throttle. NBT will be looking to secure their spot as the top single-gender choir in New England this upcoming season. With two division wins and two runner-up placings in 2024, it is looking like they will be the ones to watch in 2025. NBT is known for their cohesive themes spanning from the News, Nightmares into Daydream, and Social Media, and it is to be expected that this year will follow suit. - Michael James Breen, New England Contributor

2024 #52 Ranked Choir: Ankeny “Intensity” (3rd in Iowa)

2025 Directors: Emma Feldhans (4th season) and Karlee Nelson (1st season)

Choreographers: Kevin Chase (5th season) and Brianna DeMoss (4th season)

Competition Schedule: Jan 18- Benton; Feb 1- Ankeny Centennial; Feb 15- Davenport Central; Mar 1- Southeast Polk

Intensity saw a successful 2024 season, which included a first place in division and the group’s first finals appearance since the high school split in 2014. Looking ahead, their 2025 season is bound to be no different. Although Intensity will stay within Iowa’s borders this season, they will see single-gender and mixed prep choirs from throughout the Midwest, both familiar and new to them. As of now, some of Intensity’s competitions appear to have a smaller lineup, giving leeway for them to find themselves in finals again. With former director Nick Oswald exiting his role, the team of seasoned director Emma Feldhans and new director Karlee Nelson are sure to bring Intensity to the next level this upcoming season. -Ava Sammons, Iowa Contributor

2024 #53 Ranked Choir: Papillion-La Vista “Monarchy” (5th in Nebraska)

2025 Director: Lindsey Ussery (2nd season)

Choreographer: Matt Watson (4th season)

Competition Schedule: Jan. 11 - Maryville; Jan. 18 - Ralston; Jan. 25 - Glenwood; Feb. 8 - Grand Island Northwest; Mar. 1 - O’Gorman

There aren’t a ton of mens groups in Nebraska, so Monarchy often gets classified as a prep group. But this doesn’t stop Monarchy from being a really successful group. Monarchy has made finals multiple times over the last few years, and it doesn’t look like that will change in 2025. It’s tough to say who Monarchy will be battling directly since some competitions classify them as prep and some classify them as single-gender. But one thing is for sure: their show will definitely leave an impact at any competition they go to. - Quinn Masek, Siouxland Contributor

2024 #54 Ranked Choir: John Burroughs “Decibelles” (4th in California)

2025 Director: Brendan Jennings (16th season)

Choreographers: Dominic Matas (9th season), Jennifer Stanley (10th season), Shannon Ary (5th season), Ashley Borgese (9th season)

Competition Schedule: Feb. 22 - Esperanza; Mar. 8 - Hart; Mar. 15 - Valley Vista; Mar. 29 - Oceanside; Apr. 5 - Hosting

As the entry-level single-gender choir in the Burroughs program, Decibelles often competes in the novice and intermediate divisions. Despite that, the choir had a great season in 2024, beating ensembles from Helix, Brea Olinda, Oceanside, Diamond Bar, Cypress, among others. There should be plenty of competition in 2025 as well, with large expected fields at Hart and Oceanside along with a venture out to Arizona to compete at Valley Vista. - William Soquet, Editor-in-Chief

2024 #55 Ranked Choir: Sioux Falls Roosevelt “Capitol Harmony” (2nd in South Dakota)

2025 Director: Mason Meyer (4th season)

Choreographer: Mike Weaver (4th season)

Competition Schedule: Jan. 11 - Sioux Falls Jefferson; Jan. 18 - Gretna; Feb. 1 - Hosting; Feb. 15 - Sioux Falls Washington; Feb. 22 - Omaha South; Mar. 1 - O’Gorman; Mar. 8 - Emmetsburg

Like Roosevelt’s varsity group, Capitol Harmony is another group that’s hard to get a read on. Despite making finals twice in 2024, the group never placed first in their division. Like Executive Suite, Capitol Harmony is facing tough single-gender groups in 2025 including Aberdeen, Elkhorn South, Johnston, and Millard North. Breaking through and securing at least one division win would be a nice step forward for Capitol Harmony. - Quinn Masek, Siouxland Contributor

2024 #56 Ranked Choir: Tift County “Tiftosterone” (2nd in Georgia)

2025 Director: Kyle Robinson (3rd season)

Choreographers: To Be Announced

Competition Schedule: To Be Announced

While the mens division in the southern show choir region may not be all that large and competitive, there still are a few groups that fit into this unique tier. Tiftostertone is one of them, having won their division three times last year and not losing to a single other bass group during that span. An early upset at Tallassee over Auburn was followed up by a solid resume of success the rest of the season. Kyle Robinson is in his first season of head direction for the group in 2025. - Tony Holeman, Southern Contributor

2024 #57 Ranked Choir: John Burroughs “Men@Work” (5th in California)

2025 Directors: Dominic Matas (9th season) and Dan Scoville (16th season)

Choreographer: Dominic Matas (9th season)

Competition Schedule: Feb. 22 - Esperanza; Mar. 8 - Hart; Mar. 15 - Valley Vista; Mar. 29 - Oceanside; Apr. 5 - Hosting

To put it simply, Men@Work are the best men’s group in the world, and maybe that ever existed. Boasting an undefeated season in the largest bass division in the country is proof enough of that. Hilarious concepts, incredible vocal power, and fun choreography are all part of the yearly M@W experience. They will look to continue their dominance into 2025. - Chris Mendoza, California Contributor

2024 #58 Ranked Choir: New Castle “Dynamiques” (17th in Indiana)

2025 Director: Ethan Hutchison (2nd season) and DJ Shumaker (2nd season)

Choreographer: Caitlin Lammers (2nd season)

Competition Schedule: Jan. 24 - Ball State; Feb. 8 - Carroll; Feb. 15 - DeKalb; Feb. 21 - Franklin Central; Mar. 15 - Lawrence Central; Mar. 22 - Noblesville

Competing for the first time since 2012, New Castle’s single-gender group has had a successful first season, finishing in the top five at the ISSMA Finals. While they haven’t competed against many of Indiana’s small single-gender powerhouses, they have the chance this upcoming season to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in small single-gender. - AJ Prentice, Fort Wayne Contributor

2024 #59 Ranked Choir: Sioux Falls Jefferson “Revelry” (3rd in South Dakota)

2025 Director: Rebecca Hiigel (3rd season)

Choreographers: Mark Traynor Quamme (3rd season) and Nick Quamme (3rd season)

Competition Schedule: Jan. 4 - Holmen, Jan. 11 - Hosting, Feb. 1 - Sioux Falls Roosevelt, Feb. 15 - Sioux Falls Washington, Feb. 22 - Spirit Lake, Mar. 1 - Vermillion, Mar. 8 - Lewis Central

For the first time in the group's history, Rebecca Hiigel is directing the group solo. Revelry still will be facing challenging treble groups like Aberdeen, Lincoln East, Papio South, and Sioux Falls Roosevelt. Still a young group, Revelry will continue to establish its identity in a South Dakota single-gender scene that is not the largest, but just as fierce as anywhere else in the country. - Quinn Masek, Siouxland Contributor

2024 #60 Ranked Choir: Neosho “Phenomenon” (3rd in Missouri)

2025 Directors: Melanie Soule (4th season) and Grant Benham (3rd season)

Choreographer: Grant Benham (3rd season)

Competition Schedule: Jan. 18 - Blue Valley; Jan. 25 - Pleasant Hill; Feb. 8 - Smith-Cotton; Feb. 15 - Hosting; Mar. 1 - Carthage; Mar. 8 - Mt. Zion

As bass groups go, Phenomenon has risen to the top of the pack very quickly in their three short years of existence. Even after competing against some of the strongest treble groups in the Midwest, they’ve shown that they are a force to be reckoned with; their strong vocals truly set them apart from any other bass group in the Heartland. In terms of 2025 competition, the bass group they will go head-to-head with most often will be Webb City DoMENance, but if they end up competing in a collective single-gender division with treble groups, their competition will be even stiffer. - Anne Marie Wright, Heartland Contributor

2024 #61 Ranked Choir: Troy “Ladies First” (6th in California)

2025 Director: Mark Henson

Choreographers: To Be Announced

Competition Schedule: To Be Announced

Ladies First put together an impressive undefeated season in 2024. The competition was not particularly stiff, but winning is winning. If Troy can have another similarly successful season coming up, the circuit will be on notice. -Chris Mendoza, California Contributor

2024 #62 Ranked Choir: Columbus North “North Stars” (18th in Indiana)

2025 Director: Ellie Kopp (2nd season)

Choreographers: Dallas James Pritt (6th season) and Audra Chaffin (5th season)

Competition Schedule: Jan. 18 - Jay County, Feb. 1 - Columbus East, Feb. 8 - Edgewood, Feb. 22 - Franklin Community, Mar. 1 - Warren Central

The North Stars had a great run last year as they placed second at four consecutive competitions. This group is especially known for their blended and well-rounded vocals. As a group competing in the small division, they do very well and have beaten groups like Northrop, Whiteland, Edgewood, and Pike. As a moderately-sized group, it will be exciting to see how they fare in their competitions this year. Many of the competitions they are attending will have a large array of smaller choirs, so their lineup will be a telltale sign of where this group lands in the massive pool of small women’s choirs in Indiana. - Wren Millick, Indiana Contributor

2024 #63 Ranked Choir: Neosho “Sugar & Spice” (4th in Missouri)

2025 Directors: Grant Benham (3rd season) and Melanie Soule (15th season)

Choreographer: Grant Benham (3rd season)

Competition Schedule: Jan. 18 - Blue Valley; Jan. 25 - Pleasant Hill; Feb. 8 - Smith-Cotton; Feb. 15 - Hosting; Mar. 1 - Carthage; Mar. 8 - Mt. Zion

Sugar and Spice has historically been a middle-of-the-pack womens group in Missouri, placing anywhere from first to last in their division over the past few seasons. Last season was no exception to this trend; however, they did manage to make finals at a competition for their first time after the pandemic. Despite the wild-card nature of the group, their sass and character onstage is something they’ve always excelled at. Depending on how saturated the treble divisions are at this season’s comps, there could potentially be some higher placements for Sugar and Spice in the future. - Anne Marie Wright, Heartland Contributor

2024 #64 Ranked Choir: Cathedral “Irish Adrenaline” (19th in Indiana)

2025 Directors: Marian Bender (7th season) and Jordan Fox (2nd season)

Choreographers: Zach Triscari (2nd season) and Tara Tober (1st season)

Competition Schedule: To Be Announced

This group had one of their best seasons to date last year as they took home first at four of their five competitions. There is no schedule available for this choir yet, but based on past years, they will probably be staying within Indiana for most, if not all of their season. Cathedral does a very good job of finding competitions that suit their choir, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see another great season for them. - Wren Millick, Indiana Contributor

2024 #65 Ranked Choir: Papillion-La Vista “Heart and Soul” (6th in Nebraska)

2025 Director: Meredith L’Heureux (2nd season)

Choreographer: Anne Chapman (2nd season)

Competition Schedule: Jan. 11 - Maryville; Jan. 18 - Ralston; Jan. 25 - Glenwood (IA); Feb. 8 - Grand Island NW; Mar. 1 - O’Gorman

Historically, Heart and Soul has done pretty well in their own division, often ranking in the middle when facing other Nebraska womens groups. Last season, they were able to showcase their abilities and made finals for the third time in program history. They had success over many mixed varsity groups at Burke, including Elkhorn, Blair, Omaha North, and Ralston. At Lincoln Southwest, they were beaten by Lincoln East, but they turned it around at Norris where they placed higher than them. Heart and Soul is a formidable opponent to other treble groups, and will continue to showcase that in 2025. - Arte Reed, Nebraska/Iowa Contributor

2024 #66 Ranked Choir: Shepherd Hill “Illusion” (2nd in Massachusetts)

2025 Director: Becky Bussiere (8th season)

Choreographers: Tara Tober (1st season) and Jacob Jay Jones (1st season)

Competition Schedule: Feb. 1 - Hosting; Feb. 8 - Tantasqua; Feb. 28 - Hanover; Mar. 8 - Leominster; Mar. 15 - Bishop Hendricken; Mar. 22 - Andover; Apr. 5 - Waltham

Illusion brough on newcomers Tara Tober and JJ Jones as the choreography team for 2025. The group is known for their fun and exciting shows (and not to mention fabulous costumes!). Since their inception in 2003, the group has won its division over 25 times, with two of them coming in 2024.  After the pandemic, Illusion has been building momentum to become the top single-gender group in New England like they once were. If Illusion is on the same track as they were last year, 2025 will be looking mighty bright for them. - Michael James Breen, New England Contributor

2024 #67 Ranked Choir: Homestead “Elite” (20th in Indiana)

2025 Directors: Curtis Shaw (17th season) and Andrew Sherman (7th season)

Choreographers: To Be Announced

Competition Schedule: Feb. 1 - Northrop; Feb. 8 - Carroll; Feb. 15 - Olentangy; Feb. 22 - Hosting; Mar. 1 - Huntington North; Mar. 8 - Churubusco; Mar. 15 - Herbert Hoover

Coming out of a weaker season that Elite has seen in recent years, Homestead has the ability to really make a comeback if they want. Having a very similar competition schedule to last year (minus their two out of state competitions), it is likely that Elite will face their same competition as last year at some point during their competition season. Having the largest school in the Fort Wayne show choir circuit and some of the largest choirs in their department, they could have some of the most powerful vocal sounds in the circuit. Overall, it will be interesting to see how Elite does in this new year - make sure to not count them out for this season! -Justin Ternet, Fort Wayne Contributor

2024 #68 Ranked Choir: Northwest Rankin “The Allure” (4th in Mississippi)

2025 Directors: Toney Keeler (6th season) and Jonathan Hall (1st season)

Choreographers: To Be Announced

Confirmed Competition Schedule: Jan. 18 - Hosting; Feb. 1 - Jackson Academy; Mar. 1 - Madison Central; Mar. 8 - Biloxi

One of the South’s most improved groups last year, The Allure won their division twice and also placed fourth overall in finals twice. They garnered a few noteworthy victories over the season as well, including a spot above Brandon Bellas at the Jackson Academy Show Choir Invitational and a finals placement over Petal Innovations at the Biloxi Gulf Coast Classic. The Allure will look to continue their momentum this upcoming season. -Tony Holeman, Southern Contributor

2024 #69 Ranked Choir: Millard West “Uptown” (7th in Nebraska)

2025 Director: Jordan Newhouse (4th season)

Choreographer: Anne Chapman (14th season)

Competition Schedule: Jan. 25 - Hosting; Feb. 1 - Omaha Westside; Feb. 15 - Urbandale; Feb. 22 - Hastings (MN); Mar. 8 - Lewis Central; Mar. 15 - Millard North

Millard West has a solid program, and Uptown showcases that they are a strong contender in both the single-gender and mixed divisions. A highlight of the 2024 season was competing in the mixed division at Omaha South, making the choir eligible for finals. Uptown absolutely did make finals, finishing third overall at the entire competition. Their competition schedule for 2025 is looking like a tough one for them, but perhaps this would be the best way for them to show off their skills for the next season. - Arte Reed, Nebraska/Iowa Contributor

2024 #70 Ranked Choir: Jay County “Just Treble” (21st in Indiana)

2025 Director: Susan Denney (7th season)

Choreographer: Damon Brown (7th season)

Competition Schedule: Jan. 18th - Hosting;, Feb. 1 - Northrop; Feb. 15 - Kenton; Feb. 22 - Homestead; Mar. 1 - Huntington North; Mar. 8 - Churubusco; Mar. 15 - Columbia City

One of the Fort Wayne circuit’s youngest groups, Just Treble has earned a solid reputation as one of the best single-gender  groups. In 2024, their Barbie-themed show outclassed large groups and carried them to finals on several occasions. After having an impressive second place at Noblesville last year, it is uncertain whether they’ll be attending Noblesville again or returning to ISSMA State to finish off their season. - AJ Prentice, Fort Wayne Contributor

2024 #71 Ranked Choir: Carroll “Select Sound” (22nd in Indiana)

2025 Directors: Eric Smead (5th season) and Jill Jeran (19th season)

Choreographers: To Be Announced

Competition Schedule: Feb. 1 - Northrop; Feb. 8 - Hosting; Feb. 15 - Chesterton; Feb. 22 - Homestead; Mar. 8 - Bishop Luers; Mar. 15 - Norwell; Mar. 22 - Noblesville; Mar. 29 - Heart Of America Orlando

With an impressive competition schedule ahead of them, Select Sound has some tough competition ahead in the 2025 season. After taking the win at Heart of America New York City in 2023, Select Sound seems to be looking to keep their HOA win streak. Looking at this competition schedule, it is safe to say it will truly show where this department will land at the national level. Competing against top single-gender groups from Carmel and Brandon at Chesterton to more local competition at Homestead, Northrop, and Bishop Luers, this season will be a true testament to the power of Select Sound. - Justin Ternet, Fort Wayne Contributor

2024 #72 Ranked Choir: Naperville North “High Heeled Harmony” (3rd in Illinois)

2025 Directors: Nicholas Janssen (13th season), Tess Tazioli (2nd season)

Choreographer: Nicholas Janssen (13th season)

Confirmed Competition Schedule: Feb 15 - Hosting; Feb 22 - El Paso; March 1 - Glenwood

High Heeled Harmony had one of their best seasons in recent years. They had podium finishes in three out of four competitions and made mixed finals not once, but twice. First-year director Tess Tazioli was to have been a massive help for High Heeled Harmony, helping them get back to where they were in 2022. An unknown front half of their schedule makes it hard to predict exactly how they will place this upcoming season, but history shows the High Heeled Harmony performs very well in the beginning of the season; winning three of their last four opening competitions. - Owen Miller; Illinois Contributor

2024 #73 Ranked Choir: James River “Anything Goes” (6th in Virginia)

2025 Director: Cathern Hazelwood (4th season)

Choreographer: Austin Rosenberg (3rd season)

Competition Schedule: Feb. 15 - Clover Hill; Mar. 1 - Hanover/M’ville; Mar. 8 - Cosby; Mar. 15 - Manchester; Mar. 22 - Powhatan

Along with Douglas S. Freeman, James River has been one of those schools in Virginia that has been very successful fielding only an all-girls show choir. Anything Goes nabbed second in large division twice last season, paired with a third and a finals miss at an absolutely stacked Cosby competition. However, director Cathern Hazelwood is bringing back the mixed show choir, Current Edition, that hasn’t competed since 2014. Will the genesis of a competitive mixed group hurt Anything Goes in either number of performers or quality of show? That’s what the community will learn in 2025. - William Soquet, Editor-in-Chief

2024 #74 Ranked Choir: Sparta “Rise of Adrenaline” (1st in Wisconsin)

2025 Directors: Camie Schneider (2nd season) and Skyler Erickson (2nd season)

Choreographer: Alex Schultz (1st season)

Competition Schedule: Jan. 4 - Holmen; Jan. 18 - Milton; Feb. 1 - hosting; Feb. 8 - La Crosse; Feb. 15 - Naperville North; Mar. 8 - Janesville Craig

Following a surplus of students who auditioned for Upstage Adrenaline, Sparta’s mixed show choir, in spring 2023, the directors decided to create a girls group so that no student would miss out on show choir. Rise of Adrenaline was comprised primarily of ‘doublers’ in 2024, with roughly two-thirds of the group also participating in Upstage. The group encountered immediate success, winning the single-gender division at its first-ever competition and beating multiple established bulwarks of the Wisconsin womens scene. Should Rise of Adrenaline see more interest in 2025 and rely less on doublers, a regression in performance would probably be considered a good season, not a bad one.  - William Soquet, Editor-in-Chief

2024 #75 Ranked Choir: Pius X “Prism” (8th in Nebraska)

2025 Directors: Ian Mitchell (3rd season) and Edgar Estrada (3rd season)

Choreographers: Ian Mitchell (3rd season), Edgar Estrada (2nd season), and Braxton Carr (1st season)

Competition Schedule: Feb. 1 - Lincoln East; Feb. 8 - Lincoln Southwest; Feb. 22 - Omaha South; Mar. 1 - Lincoln Northeast; Mar. 15 - Millard North

Prism did very well in the 2024 season. While the group never got first in their division, they got third once and second four times, which is still an incredible accomplishment. Now the group adds Braxton Carr as a choreographer. Carr has been choreographing Pius X's varsity group since 2021, and it looks like his creative vision will give Prism a new life. While the mixed group Spectrum caught a lot of attention in 2024, Prism may just be primed for the same type of breakout year in 2025. - Quinn Masek, Siouxland Contributor
