  • Loveland and Fairfield move up after their divisional wins this past weekend. Fairfield was first in prelims and finals, claiming both Vocals and Band but losing Choreography to Chesterton (IN). Loveland swept their division over long-time-single-gender titan Wheaton Warrenville South, IL and broke into finals, beating out a handful of mixed choirs.

Looking Ahead

This weekend features four competitions for Ohio choirs, including Ohio’s largest event of the season.

  • Teays Valley heads to West Virginia to compete at Herbert Hoover and Middletown will be competing in the prep division at Brownsburg, IN.

  • Beavercreek, Kenton, and Perrysburg will compete at Norwell, IN where Beavercreek has their last opportunity to claim a win of the season, otherwise this will be their first season without an overall win since 2015.

  • The headlining event for Ohio and even beyond is the Fairfield Crystal Classic which will feature 22 high school choirs across 5 divisions. They will take 5 Finalists for Large/Medium Mixed, 3 Large Single Gender Finalists, and 6 Small Mixed/Single Gender Finalists.

    • In the Large Division, Grove City, Loveland, and Marysville will face two of Indiana’s best choirs, Center Grove and Zionsville. Both Marysville and Center Grove enter this event undefeated with 4 wins, 4 vocal captions, and 4 choreography captions this season.

    • Medium Mixed brings together Edgewood and Lebanon for the first time this season, with the addition of Robert C. Byrd from West Virginia. With such a high caliber Large Mixed division, it would be a stellar accomplishment for either of these groups to snag a spot in finals.

    • The Large Single Gender Division features Center Grove, Loveland, Marysville, and Zionsville. With three finalists, one choir will be left on the outside looking in after prelims.

    • The largest division of the competition is the Small Mixed division featuring 9 choirs including Ross, Buckeye Valley, and South Dearborn from Indiana. They will compete with one additional choir in the Small Single Gender division, Pike, for those 6 finals spots.
