Millard North Hosts the Final Nebraska Competition of the Year

By Arte Reed, Nebraska Contributor

This week, Millard North will host Nebraska's final competition. All of these groups are closing out their competition season at this event, with Millard West versus Ankeny Centennial being the highlight showdown of the night.

Prep Division

Westview "Summit Singers"

Fairbury "Crimson Elite"

Ankeny Centennial "Chaos"

Aquinas "Forte"

Millard West "Swing Cats"

Ankeny Centennial "Eternal Rush"

A lot of eyes are on Swing Cats and Eternal Rush at this event. Millard West already had their run in with Iowa prep groups earlier this season, placing third at Urbandale behind Waukee and Johnston's prep groups. However, they are looking to turn that around at Millard North.

Womens Division

MKS Studio "BRIO"

Ralston "Runway"

Millard West "Uptown"

Ankeny Centennial "Vortex"

Pius X "Prism"

There are three groups to look out for: Uptown, Vortex, and Prism. Typically, Vortex performs in the mixed division, but this time they will be competing in the womens division in hopes of a division win. Uptown is currently undefeated in their division and have only placed in finals once during the season. Prism has had several top three placements, highlighted by a first place at Lincoln Northeast a couple weeks ago.

Mixed Division

Norfolk "Velocity"

Ralston "RUSH"

Millard West "West in the Groove"

Ankeny Centennial "Spectrum"

Keller Central "Voices of Central"

Pius X "Spectrum"

The two biggest groups in this competition are Millard West and Ankeny Centennial. Millard West won three of their four competitions. Meanwhile, Ankeny Centennial shares a similar record, winning two of their three competitions. Pius X is another group with a notable record, placing in the top three at all of their competitions. Keller Central is from Keller, TX and have consistently placed third and fourth at their competitions. Their attendance could swing the placements in a different direction than what may be expected at a Nebraska competition. Ralston and Norfolk will have to really prove themselves in order to make finals at their final competition.

Final Predictions

GC: Millard West "West in the Groove"

1RU: Ankeny Centennial "Spectrum"

2RU: Pius X "Spectrum"

3RU: Ankeny Centennial "Vortex"

4RU: Keller Central "Voices of Central"

5RU: Millard West "Uptown"

Millard West and Ankeny Centennial have similar records, so it would not be surprising to see a split caption at this event. Pius X will likely be next in line, but it is also possible to see Keller Central take third place as well. Two treble groups, Vortex and Uptown, are strong contenders for finals, and either one could place as high as fourth, outplacing a mixed group in the process.
