Welcome back to another southern show choir preview. This week features an interesting set of competitions, with one featuring a three-way heavyweight bout, one offering several tight divisional matchups, and the other offering a smaller and quicker competition. Each presents different storylines going on with the different competing groups.
MADISON CENTRAL DEEP SOUTH CLASSIC
The premier event of the weekend lies in Madison, Mississippi, which will play host to an exciting matchup between Grenada, Oak Mountain, and Brandon. While these three are the favorites, don’t count out Northwest Rankin to upset one of the aforementioned competitors. It's impossible to ignore the Single-Gender division at this competition, where Oak Mountain, Brandon, and Northwest Rankin will all be contributing to the pool. On top of all the top-tier competition, there is even a brand new debuting show choir: Tishomingo Brave Voices! This competition is packed to the brim with anything you could ask for, and there may just be a first-hand account of what went down in next week's recap column.

OAK GROVE MAGNOLIA INVITATIONAL
While the initial headlining groups may not be as noticeable as those as Madison Central, Oak Grove seems to offer the more interesting matchups of the weekend all the way down the card. Starting off, there is an immediate rematch of Biloxi and West Jones from this last weekend at Petal where Biloxi upset West Jones. Then in the 2A division, South Jones will reattempt to take down Northeast Jones after a bounce-back last week. In the Single-Gender division, there's another rematch from last week at Petal between Purvis and Biloxi, where Biloxi Sound Sirens topped the red-hot Purvis Pizzaz. 1A looks to be fairly straightforward at first for West Marion, with the rest up for grabs between an upstart Pass Christian, established contenders Pisgah and Wayne County, and Columbia Academy. There seems to be plenty to watch down at Hattiesburg this weekend. Full predictions are below:

DONELSON CHRISTIAN ACADEMY MUSIC CITY SHOW CHOIR INVITATIONAL
Heading slightly north to the “Southskirts”, there is a smaller competition in Nashville, Tennessee. The Music City Invitational is only open to groups with 35 or fewer performers. Quite the group of competitors will gather, including Rome Grand Finale, Bradley Central Vocal Motion, Cleveland Renaissance, and Prattville Spotlight. This competition also features two groups with notes of their own. The first is a brand-new debuting group from Kentucky, Heritage Academy Zamar. The second is North Carolina traveling show choir Hough Howlin' Huskies. These two groups will add a fun element of surprise and unknown to the competition. Full predictions are as below:

OUT OF TOWN
This weekend’s out-of-town section includes two separate occasions. First off, Jackson Academy Encore and Homewood Nexus will travel up north to Chatham, Illinois. It’s here where Jackson Academy will compete against groups such as Brownsburg, Wheaton Warrenville South, Mt. Zion, and many others. Homewood’s single-gender group will be competing against groups like Wheaton Warrenville South Esprit, Mt Zion Les Femmes, and many more. On the other hand, while not as far and still arguably in the southern region, Jackson Prep and Briarwood will travel to Heart of America Nashville to compete against the likes of Hurricane Red Hot, Hurricane Heat Wave, and Indianola Side One. New Hope High School, from Columbus, Mississippi, near the Alabama state line, will bring its Take One show choir to the stage for the first time since 2016 at HOA Nashville. Good luck and safe travels to all the southern show choir groups heading out this weekend!
Come right back here after the weekend is over for a dissection of all the results, whether they be chalk or upsets. Good luck to all the groups!
