There is no doubt that Linn-Mar is back. Big crowds entered the Johnston auditorium to watch Linn-Mar, Waukee Northwest, and Urbandale, and those same crowds were left speechless. The event brought in historical moments for each choir attending.
Womens Division
Grand Champion: Linn-Mar "Hi-Style"
1st Runner Up: Urbandale "Affinity"
Linn-Mar started off strong with Hi-Style taking the win in the womens division. Their theme, the Phony Awards, highlighted Broadway's worst ideas. Hi-Style brought this theme to life with a ton of energy and unique lyrics that made the crowd laugh. Affinity's show improved for Showzam, but it was not enough to secure a win. Nonetheless, their show was enjoyable and lit up the room with sunshine.
Prep Division
Grand Champion: Linn-Mar "In Step"
1st Runner Up: Urbandale "Vitality"
2nd Runner Up: Waukee Northwest "Aurora"
What do schools, art galleries, and cowboys have in common? Honestly, not much. In Step, Vitality, and Aurora each had unique themes that they brought to life. Linn-Mar took home the gold in another division. Vitality improved their show after placing third last week. They were able to beat Aurora, who lost to Johnston Synergy last weekend. The placements for all three groups looked close, but only In Step and Vitality moved up to finals.

3rd Runner Up: Linn-Mar "In Step"
4th Runner Up: Urbandale "Vitality"
5th Runner Up: Dowling Catholic "Dimensions"
Unfortunately, Norwalk did not make it to finals, unable to carry the momentum of a fifth at Waukee two weeks ago. Dowling Catholic beat them to it with what seemed to be a close battle. In prelims, Urbandale Studio and Waukee Northwest Eos placed second and third respectively, which swapped in finals. In Step and Vitality stayed in the same placements as their prep results, and both managed to beat Dowling Catholic to secure fourth and fifth. Linn-Mar swept the competition, continuing their undefeated streak and keeping the MacRonkin for another week.
What's next for the top three? Urbandale Studio will travel to Troy Buchanan on February 8th to compete against Mt. Zion and Blue Valley. Waukee Northwest will host Nightfall on February 8th and will compete at Urbandale on February 15th. Linn-Mar will be at Prairie this weekend, which will perhaps not feature the top-end competition seen this past weekend but will still be an eastern Iowa mix-up.
