In sync with its mission of connecting show choir performers, parents, professionals, fans and other enthusiasts across the world, HomeRoom Show Choir is in search of passionate and enthusiastic individuals to round out its staff lineup before the upcoming 2025 show choir season.
The 2024 season was one of remarkable growth for HomeRoom, expanding into regional written coverage, podcasting, graphics, and shortform video. HRSC is looking to take it one step further for the future and fill in the missing puzzle pieces to assemble a team of creators representing every major show choir region in the United States.
Interest forms will be open from September 16 to September 30. This will be the final round of staff additions before the 2025 season, so if you're even thinking about joining the team, do it now! Filling out the interest form does not obligate you to anything else.
Regional contributors are expected to have a working knowledge of the region they are expressing interest in. Written contributors are expected to have a working command of the English language (including grammar). Graphic designers are expected to have previous experience with at least one graphic design software. Read on for a list of open positions and the duties associated with each:
Heartland contributor
Middle America isn't just flyover land - it's also home to one of the most chaotic show choir scenes in the country. Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma have groups that switch places almost weekly throughout the season and great competition names like Trochella and Tiger Takedown. Duties of the position include:

Illinois contributor
The Land of Lincoln is home to a number of national contenders and a compact competition season that runs from early February to mid-March. Duties of the position include:

Iowa contributor
While other states may have a strong circuit in one area, Iowa's pockets of show choir are second to none. From Sioux City in the northwest corner of the state to Davenport in the east, the depth of Iowa is perhaps its greatest strength. Deep knowledge of eastern Iowa show choir (Cedar Rapids/Iowa City/Davenport and surroundings) is especially appreciated for this one! Duties of the position include:

The North Star state is certainly a beacon for the show choir world. Show designs from several top groups leave marks across the country for years to come, and out-of-state groups flock to big competitions like Hastings and Totino-Grace. Perhaps some of the most passionate show choir performers and fans in the country belong to the Cornhusker State. With new groups contending for great placements seemingly every year, there will be no shortage of storylines to cover in the future. Duties of the position include:

With a sneaky amount of history and some of the nation's premier late-season competitions, New England is a cozy scene worthy of top-notch coverage. Duties of the position include:

South Dakota show choir has a little bit of everything - a few powerhouse schools from the same city, a couple of great programs that are the only school from their area doing show choir, and a handful of smaller groups to fill out competitions. Duties of the position include:

From the bloodbath that is the Jackson metro to the power schools around Birmingham, up to the Nashville choirs and down to the Florida choirs, the south is one of the most diverse regions of show choir today. Duties of the position include:

Mostly centered around the Richmond area, Virginia show choir is probably a little bit slept on by the rest of the country but still produces great battles and great groups! Duties of the position include:

From the Huntington-area groups in the southwest to the Berkley County groups in the panhandle, West Virginia has show choir representation in many different areas of the state. Duties of the position include:

Sure, the top three California schools will put up great shows year in and year out, but the West has a very robust scene across its two advanced divisions, intermediate division, and novice division. Schools from other states like Arizona, New Mexico and Utah sometimes come to crash the party as well! Duties of the position include:

Graphic Designer
Graphic designers are some of the most versatile members of the HomeRoom team - from working behind the scenes to promote written content to coming up with ideas that are just plain fun to design and post, it's a perfect way to blend a passion of show choir with a passion for graphic design. Duties of the position include:

*design original graphic projects in and out of season
*create occasional graphics out-of-season to compliment other site content
*collaborate with editorial staff and other designers to constantly improve
