Opportunities arrived for many groups that attended Wahoo last weekend, as the top five groups recorded their best placement of the season (or tied it).
Prep Division
1st: Benson "Resilience"
2nd: Fairbury "Crimson Elite"
3rd: Lincoln Northeast "Dynamix"
Benson took home its first division win since moving to the prep division at the beginning of this season. Second was also one of Fairbury's better results since returning to competitive show choir in 2023.
Womens Division
1st: Seward "Blue Harmony"
2nd: Ralston "Runway"
Blue Harmony, a new addition to the Seward show choir program this season, won its division in its first competition. Not a bad start for the group!
Final Results
Grand Champion: Hastings "Uncaged" (BC/BB)
1st Runner Up: Skutt Catholic "Vivace" (BV)
2nd Runner Up: Blair "Ovation"
3rd Runner Up: Standing Bear "The Renegades"
4th Runner Up: Ralston "RUSH"
5th Runner Up: Lincoln Northeast "Voices 'N Harmony"
The results speak for themselves. Finals was expected to have a mixture of small and larger schools, and it was quite the mix. Blair came to Wahoo swinging and outperformed many groups. Their third place is impressive to say the least. The matchup between Hastings and Skutt Catholic is one for the books, as Vivace was able to steal Best Vocals from Uncaged. Standing Bear and Ralston have both been beaten by Lincoln Northeast at previous competitions. They both changed the tides and were able to beat Voices 'N Harmony in finals.
There are not too many competitions left in Nebraska now, but some of these groups will have a couple of more stops before the season ends. Lincoln Northeast will be hosting The Rock on March 1st. Attendees include Bellevue East, Blair, Standing Bear, Wahoo, and Benson, who were all at Court of Champions. Additional attendees are Pius X, Fort Madison, Lincoln Northwest, and Lincoln High, making for a large field. Ralston will be at Omaha North on March 8, where they will face Blair and Glenwood once again. Skutt Catholic will be at Hinton on March 22. Hastings will be traveling all the way to Keller, Texas on March 1 to compete at Keller Central.
