Upsets
Large Unisex Captions
In the day show, there were split captions between Carroll Select Sound and Noblesville New Dimension. However, in finals, Brownsburg Starlight Voices beat them both.
Columbia City "City Heat"
Predicted to place towards the bottom of the finalist spots, City Heat, who has not had the best historical results at Homestead, took second runner-up. CC beat Jay County for the first time this season and beat Fairfield for a spot in finals.
Anderson "Singers Unlimited"
Last season, Anderson’s former director Alan Alder returned to the department, and since then Anderson has stepped up their game with wins against Fairfield and Columbia City. This year, they proved their re-established program and has become a competitive small school in Fort Wayne.
Garett "Encore”
Encore placed three spots below Fairfield on Feb. 15, but placed one spot of Fusion in prelims to grab the last finals spot. Encore also sent West Virginia's Herbert Hoover High Impact packing after prelims.
Large Mixed Best Vocals
Both Solon and Laffaytte Jefferson had an undefeated season before Saturday night. While many anticipated a clean sweep for Solon, not only was there a split caption in the day, there was also a tie for Best Vocals between First Edition and Music in Motion.
Carroll “Magic”
Not only did Carroll beat Brownsburg and Noblesville, they also stole Best Choreography from Solon and Laffaytte Jefferson all the way from third place. For the second week in a row, Carroll found itself right in the thick of a contentious final battle with several heavyweights and placed well.
Huntington North “Varsity Singers”
While it’s not the shocking upset it was last year, Huntington North did manage to block Brownsburg Spotlight Singers & Company from making finals. While perhaps their record is not as good as it was last year,

"Overall I think this competition has always been full of top tier groups within the Fort Wayne circuit, battling it all out together. I think that this really showcased Lafayette Jeff and Carroll really proving themselves for their first half of the season. I’m excited to see how this will continue throughout the rest of their seasons.
In the small division, it really showed the power of these groups and the competitiveness of this division. It can get really tough to predict groups of so similar caliber and I think this competition really showed the strength these groups bring." - Justin
