In the last weekend of the season, Vista PEAK pulls off a rare two-win season in Colorado and several choirs scored division wins at SCVA!
Colorado State Show Choir Festival
Overall Results:
1st: Vista PEAK “Ascension”
2nd: Cañon City “Encore!”
3rd: Cheyenne Mountain “Dynamix”
It is now clear that, at least at this moment in time, Vista PEAK is the best show choir in Colorado right now. While the winner of the state-sanctioned CHSAA contest has the bragging rights to say that, Ascension has backed it up. In what may be the longest multiple-win undefeated season, Vista PEAK started its season off by finally breaking through at the Scottsbluff Old West Choir Fest, placing in the top two spots. The show never lost its polish, as it next competed almost six months later. At states, Ascension cleared a field of 19 other choirs to take home the win. According to Cañon City’s website, they have now finished in the top three for over 20 years, a streak that has to be one of the longest – if not the single longest – in Colorado. Cheyenne Mountain rounds out the placements, shuffling back from first in 2022. In a show of longstanding excellence, these three schools have made up the top three since 2019.

Chula Vista comes in at the top of the results sheet – the first time they’ve been the top choir in the most advanced division since 2008. However, the divisions with competition provide a much more interesting story. In novice large, Eisenhower closes off the season strong, winning the division for the second weekend in a row after also winning the division at Oceanside last weekend. Novice mixed small featured three choirs who hadn’t competed since at least 2019. The most recent competitor, Riverside, came out on top of the division and captured both musicianship and showmanship awards. North, making its competition debut, placed in the middle of the division and Ramona, competing for the first time since 2004, rounds out the division. In womens, Dana Hills, another newcomer to the show choir scene, takes somewhat of an upset win over Eisenhower, who lost a chance to claim multiple division wins to round out their season.
Thanks to everybody who checked in each week for Comps of the Week! See y’all in the fall!
