With utter chaos unfolding at Esperanza, Cali show choir fans are wondering if normalcy will return this weekend in Hollywood.
Advanced Mixed I
Although this will be an exhibition for Los Alamitos Sound FX, it will be the competitive debut of their set. Burbank In Sync will also debut with their exhibition, so there is still plenty of Big Three action this weekend.
Advanced Mixed II
As the dust settles from Esperanza, the Tier 2 advanced division looks to be the most interesting competitively again. It will be Glendora Royal Stewarts and Hart Sound Vibrations, who both underperformed and were upset by Brea Olinda Masquerade - although Glendora likely received a time penalty. Cypress High Voltage will make their advanced division debut. Throw out everything you thought you knew about this division, as each group will be fighting for their first win of the season, something that will be hard to come by in this ever-more-difficult division.
Advanced Treble (Large and Small)
Los Al Soundtrax will debut their set in the large division exhibition, while Los Alamitos’ secondary treble group, Xquisite, will take on Hart Hartbreakers. Xquisite should take home the win in Adv Treble Small, but don’t rule out a sneaky showmanship caption for Hartbreakers.
Advanced Bass
Finally! A bass division free from the tyranny of Burroughs Men@Work! With the undefeated Bass Division champions of 2024 not in attendance, the division at Burbank Blast is a bit more wide open. Cypress and Hart’s basses are no joke, and of course Los Alamitos Xtreme will be the favorites to win. Keep an eye out for upsets and caption steals here as all three groups debut their competition sets.
Intermediate Mixed and Treble
Intermediate mixed has three competing choirs. Los Alamitos Connexion would be expected to pull off the victory here, but don’t count out Oceanside Soundwaves. Over in the treble section, five choirs will duke it out. Really any group could come out and take home the W, but an upstart favorite is Cypress Pink Thunder. Glendora, Los Al, Saugus, or Bonita Vista’s trebles will all be fighting for ranking this week.
Novice Mixed
Another bloodbath of a division, with the first-place title totally up for grabs. Eisenhower Ike Singers will be expected to get it done, but it’s really anyone’s game. Esperanza, Hart, Los Altos and Granada Hills will fill out the lineup.
