ADA, Ohio - The schedule for the Ada Music Feast, which will occur on November 12th, has been released.
Ada is the only mainstream show choir competition that occurs during the fall season. Scottsbluff, Nebraska, also hosts a competition, but it does not usually attract any regular competitors. Southmont and Bluffton, both in Indiana, used to host fall competitions. Southmont no longer hosts any fall event and Bluffton’s event now utilizes a noncompetitive format.
Ada’s lineup features 11 groups split over five divisions. The divisions are sorted based on group size. The list of competing groups is as follows:
Class AA: ETC “The All Americans”, Teays Valley “Prominent Rendition”, Strongsville “Mustang Express”
Class A: Piqua “The Company”, Alliance “Jet Setters”
Class B: South Dearborn “Opening Knight”, Kenton “Top Twenty”, Licking Valley “Vocal Impact”
Class C: Crestview “Knight Vision”
Womens Division: ETC “Rouge”, Teays Valley “Glamorous Edition”
All groups are from Ohio, save for South Dearborn. Piqua enters as the defending champion of the event, winning the 2021 edition over Findlay and Lebanon (Ohio). The Company never finished below second place in their 2021-22 competition season, earning a reputation as one of Ohio’s breakout groups. Kenton and Teays GE also made finals last year in a contest that only had five groups compete in the Championship Sing-Off. Top Twenty claimed two grand championships last year at small-school invitationals, and will look to continue that positive momentum. ETC will look to make a splash in their first Ada appearance since 2016, when The All Americans were directed by Bryan Detweiler. In that event, ETC finished third to Findlay and Twinsburg. The group won a grand championship at Pendleton Heights last winter and the female group, Rouge, made four mixed-division finals appearances during the 2022 season.
The Music Feast will advance six groups to finals; all competing groups are eligible. The competition will be live-streamed at https://app.wosn.tv/live.
