The Texas show choir season is coming to a close, with the bulk of the competitions over and done. Only one competition remains, the Capital City Classic on April 5. That being said, it is a good time to release Texas circuit rankings. Future installments will cover the top ten groups in the state.
How are ensambles ranked?
Groups are ranked on multiple factors, including their placements, history as an ensemble, and personal opinion. Most importantly, opinions from show choir members and experts from inside and outside of the Texas circuit are also considered.
11th: Fort Worth Southwest "Sound Machine"
This ensemble is in its second year and is the womens group under Southwest Effect. Southwest Sound Machine placed second, third and fourth this season, and did not place when the group traveled to South Dakota. Sound Machine has one more competition left this season, that being the Capital City Showcase. They have the chance to place well and make some serious noise at that competition.
12th: Southlake Carroll "The SLC"
The SLC came out hot this season with a sixth at Cowtown and a fifth at Lone Star. This third-year ensemble made waves this season, as they had never placed in previous seasons. With their coming-of-age set, The SLC left crowds wanting more of their Midwest-style show! The SLC has the potential to be a powerhouse group similar to Voices of Central or Blue Lights within the coming seasons.
13th: Arlington "Choraliers"
Arlington placed once this season across five competitions . The Choraliers placed fifth at North Texas Invitational, and took home people’s choice at Lone Star this season. Their competitive awards are a step up from last season, as they placed sixth at Cowtown during the 2024 season. While they are not the Grand Champion group that they were in the late 2010s, there is still plenty of talent and room to grow in Choraliers.
14th: Cristo Rey "Blazin’ Blue"
The final prep division group to make an appearance on this list, Blazin’ Blue finished their four competition season with two third place finishes, one fourth place finish and one competition where they were the only group in their division. Under the direction of Veronica Williams, this fourth-year ensemble has continued to improve year after year and the 2025 season was their best yet.
15th: Rouse IntoneNation
IntoneNation, one of only a few show choirs from the Austin area, is the final group to make the cut for the top 15. IntoneNation placed fourth at North Texas ahead of Arlington Choraliers but behind Bell System, Vivacé and Pantheon. The fourth-place finish was their first placement since Lone Star in 2020. This was an abnormal season for this ensemble as they usually attend two competitions but chose to attend only one this season. However, Rouse will be hosting the Capital City Showcase on April 5th.
