2025 Texas Show Choir Rankings: 10-6

By Kortney Minnick, Texas contributor

The Texas show choir season is coming to a close, with the bulk of the competitions over and done. Only one competition remains, the Capital City Classic on April 5. That being said, it is a good time to release Texas circuit rankings. A future installment will cover the top five groups in the state.

How are ensembles ranked?

Groups are ranked on multiple factors, including their placements, history as an ensemble, and personal opinion. Opinions from show choir members and experts from inside and outside of the Texas circuit are also considered.

10th: Keller Central "Voltage"

The tenth overall group, and second-highest prep group, is Keller Central Voltage. Voltage is the womens group that compliments the well-known Voices of Central. Voltage earned second place at every competition they attended this year, and took home Best Vocals in the prep division at the LD Bell Invitational. Voltage has been on the rise the past few seasons and even placed above number eight-ranked Lumina at the Southlake Carroll Showdown. Under the new direction of Chrystle Hicks and Meghan Miller, the program has thrived this season and will continue to do so in the future.

9th: Legacy "Silver Elite"

Silver Elite, out of Mansfield, Texas had a good run this season, performing this year's set “Gallery of Voices”. Under the direction of Josh Powell and Max Vrij, Silver Elite took home a fourth and fifth place finish this season. These placements are a step up from last year, where the ensemble only placed at one of their competitions that they attended. Silver Elite has room for growth within their program as does any ensemble, but with VOC alum Max Vrij on staff, an upward trajectory is well within reach for Silver Elite.

8th: Keller "Lumina"

Second-year group Lumina, from Keller High School, had an outstanding season. Placing second in the womens division at the Omaha South Classic in Nebraska is no easy feat! Lumina also took home two first-place finishes, winning at both Cowtown and Lone Star. They finished their season with a third-place finish, falling behind Jenks Trojan Spirit and Keller Centrals Voltage. A rising tide lifts all ships, and as Blue Lights continues to dominate, look for Lumina to get better with each passing season.

7th: Coppell "Vivacé"

Another second-year ensemble, Vivacé from Coppell High School, lands in seventh. Vivacé is directed by Bona Coogle and choreographed by Ashley Kimbrough. They competed at both North Texas Show Choir Invitational (NTSCI) and HEB Show Choir Invitational this season. At NTSCI Vivacé placed second, falling only to Fossil Ridge Pantheon. HEB was a different story for the ensemble, as they placed sixth overall in a deeper field. Placements aside, Vivacé shook the Texas circuit this year after only competing once this season and they have a lot of eyes on them for next season.

6th: Keller Central "Voices of Central"

Voices of Central, also known as VOC, had a rough start to their season, losing all three of their previous directors in the offseason. Under direction of VOC alum Chrystle Hicks and asssistant director Meghan Miller, VOC did not look like a choir that lost three directors from the previous season. With three fourth-place finishes and one third-place finish, they were nothing if not consistent. VOC took home third runner-up at Millard North in Nebraska, competing against Ankeny Centennial, Millard West, Pius X, and other top-tier ensembles.
