The 2025 show choir season has been over for a few weekends, and it is time for this year's final set of show choir rankings of the Southern circuit. In true show choir fashion, an extra voter was added to the finals voting panel in order to include a more thorough set of results. This set of placements reflects that of the small mixed division.
1st) West Marion "New Era" (5 first-place votes)

(West Marion "New Era" Show Choir)
The undisputed overall top 1A/Small mixed group in the South, West Marion was one 1RU placement away from having an undefeated season. With six divisional wins on the season (and an impressive two of them happening on the same day), West Marion put together one of the best seasons in recent memory for the division. Before they lost to Pass Christian at Oak Grove, they even reached a divisional win streak of nine. They even earned a 4th and 5th overall placement at a couple of their competitions, beating groups such as South Jones, Sumrall, and Oxford in the process.
2nd) Oxford "Sound" (1 first-place vote)

(Oxford High School Choirs)
While not the season they had hoped for, Oxford lands at second overall in the top Southern 1A/Small mixed groups despite their record. They finished the season winning their division in two of the four competitions they competed at, earning second and third in division at the other two. Their best wins of the season come against the likes of Appling County and Lakeside. They did put together an impressive travel schedule, though, with each competition occurring in a different state. In chronological order, they competed in Mississippi, West Virginia, Alabama, and Georgia.
3rd) Pass Christian "Luminary"

(Pass Christian Choirs)
Arguably the most improved group in the South compared to last season, Pass Christian ends their year at third overall in the 1A/Small mixed groups rankings. They made appearances at the first and second overall spots in these rankings throughout the season as well. Easily their best season since the program was revived, they finish the season with two thirds, two seconds, and a divisional win over the likes of West Marion and Pisgah. This divisional win is the first in their revived program's history. It was truly an incredible season for the group on the Mississippi coast.
4th) Pisgah "Innergy"
One of the small division blue-bloods, Pisgah stands just outside the 1A podium at fourth overall after the 2025 season. Only losing to two groups from this list (West Marion and Pass Christian), Pisgah gained key wins over Rome and Burleson Centennial to end their season with their first-ever win at Brandon ELITE. This win ends a season with two fourths, two thirds, and two overall divisional wins. Unlike typical Pisgah groups of the past, this year's show featured much more strength in the choreography section than the vocal section.
5th) Rome "Grand Finale"
Rome ends an interesting season by rounding out the top five Southern 1A/Small mixed groups on our rankings. Starting off, Rome arguably put together their best season ever: three divisional wins out of four competitions, including their first overall Grand Championship since 2023. Like Oxford, every single one of their competitions occurred in a different state - Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Mississippi in chronological order.
6th) Lakeside "Soundsation"
Just outside of the top five is Lakeside, who, outside of Pass Christian, would be considered the most improved group from this division. Arguably their best season ever, and definitely since 2016, Lakeside is the second Georgia group on this list. They wrap up their season with a divisional third, second, and first placement with wins over groups such as Sylacauga and Chelsea.
7th) Tarpon Springs "Syndicated Sound"
The lone Florida group on this list, Tarpon Springs had a very solid season. Although they only competed at two events this year, they ended the season with a third overall and fourth overall placement (the latter coming from making finals at FAME Orlando). They also gained the choreography caption at their first event of the year.
8th) Sylacauga "Signature"
Sylacauga ends with a pretty successful season results-wise, garnering a divisional win and divisional second. Their main flaw comes from a lack of competition, though, as they too only competed at two competitions on the season. The only groups they beat are Prattville, Tallassee, and Chelsea, however, those are three groups who make appearances on this list.
9th) Chelsea "Out Of The Blue"
Although their season declined as the year went on, Chelsea still had a fairly successful season considering the results. A divisional first, fourth, and two seconds in division sum up the competitive season for Chelsea. Their key wins come over the likes of Lakeside and Prattville.
10th) Prattville "Spotlight"
Prattville wraps up their season with a myriad mix of divisional second, third, and fourth overall placements, ranging over four competitions this season. The fourth-highest ranked group from Alabama on this list, these results from Prattville remain pretty consistent with last year's.
11th) Wayne County "Orange Sensations"
The second blue-blood small division group on this list, also from the state of Mississippi, Wayne County didn't have the season they had hoped. With that being said, they did earn a very impressive win over Oxford to start the season off, gaining their highest placement of the season at the same competition (second overall in the division). This season also marks the last of Wayne County's long-time director Amy Pruitt, ending a long and award-filled career for the director.
12th) Morton "One A'Chord"
Probably one of the most under-the-radar groups on this list, Morton made high strides this season compared to years past for this relatively new program. A non-competitive division win, two divisional seconds, and a divisional fourth placement wrap up another year of progress for the Morton team.
13th) Tallassee "Voltage"
Despite ending their season on a sour note with a no placement at Tift County, Tallassee still managed to garner two divisional third overall placements throughout the year. Their best wins of the year came over the likes of Chelsea and Eufala, both making appearances on this list. It was a building season for new directors Christian Lester and Becca Jones.
14th) Columbia Academy "Premiers"
If a small mixed division was deep this year, there was a large chance that Premiers were a part of it. While they did not place higher than third at any competition, their losses were to top-five contenders in the division, making it hard to get a grasp on where they would stand against competition of a similar caliber.
15th) Eufala "Vibe"
A resume very similar to Tallassee's (minus a loss to the aforementioned), Eufala didn't have the season they had hoped for. Their best performance did happen at the end of their season, though, which was unfortunately cut short due to Enterprise being canceled.
